Iraq Cars is a classifieds website for vehicles in Iraq, operated by OWNER. This page describes what the site stores and why.
Accounts and profiles
When you register, Iraq Cars stores your name, email address, phone number, and a one-way hash of your password. You can add an optional city and a profile photo. You register as a private seller or apply as a dealer. Your account also stores whether you want email notices and in-app notices.
Listings
An advert stores the vehicle details you enter, the photos you upload, and an optional link to a video hosted elsewhere. Staff review a new advert before buyers can find it in search. If you later change something material, such as the price, photos, description, specifications, or city, the advert leaves search until staff approve it again.
Messages
If you message someone about a listing, Iraq Cars stores that conversation for you and the other person. Staff can open messages in the admin tools.
Saved cars and searches
Signed-in users can save cars (favorites) and save searches. A saved search can send an alert when a matching advert is approved. Alerts appear in the site and, when email notices are on, are prepared as email.
Dealers and API keys
Dealer tools open after staff approve a dealer application. Those tools include a showroom profile (name, phone, city, hours, services, and a short bio), stock, leads, and a dealer API key. The key is shown once. Iraq Cars stores a hash of the key and the last four characters.
Email, contact, and password reset
Iraq Cars can email you about a listing decision, a saved-search match, or a password reset. A reset link lasts one hour and works once. Iraq Cars stores a hash of that token. The forgot-password page uses the same confirmation for every submitted address, which keeps unregistered addresses private. The contact form stores your email and message for staff. The newsletter stores the email address you submit.
Deleting an account
You can delete your account from your profile. The account is hidden for 30 days. Sign in with the same email and password during those 30 days to restore it. Listings that were hidden only because of the deletion come back when you restore the account. After 30 days the account is permanently deleted.
Security
Iraq Cars limits how often someone can sign in, register, request a password reset, or call the dealer API. Those limits can use the network address and, where it applies, the email address or API key. The counters stay in server memory and clear when the process restarts. Staff actions, such as approving, rejecting, or hiding an advert, are written to an audit log with the staff email. Staff can also block an email address or phone number from publishing.
Iraq Cars does not sell personal information. Iraq Cars does not take payment on the site.
Cookies and analytics
The cookies Iraq Cars sets are listed in the cookie policy. Opening a page stores a page-view record (the path) in Iraq Cars' own database. That record is not a third-party analytics cookie.
